QLogic 3GCNA Technology Selected by Fujitsu for 10GbE iSCSI Connectivity
Fujitsu ETERNUS Storage Systems Now Feature QLogic's Industry-Leading Hardware Offload Capabilities

ALISO VIEJO, Calif., April 10, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- QLogic Corp. (Nasdaq:QLGC) today announced that its 8200 Series third-generation 10GbE converged networking adapter (3GCNA) technology is now shipping as an embedded target controller solution in Fujitsu ETERNUS storage systems. QLogic® 3GCNA single-chip-based products allow customers ranging from SMB to Enterprise, to transition from 1GbE iSCSI to 10GbE, thereby allowing organizations to meet the increasingly complex requirements of today's virtualized data centers and cloud computing environments while preserving existing IT investments.

"Leading storage OEMs such as Fujitsu are adopting QLogic 3GCNA technology because we offer years of leadership in iSCSI offload as well as protocol flexibility on the same hardware over Ethernet which is ubiquitous across SMB and enterprise data centers," said Amit Vashi, vice president, marketing, Host Solutions Group, QLogic. "Our 8200 Series allows a seamless migration path for customers from 1GbE to 10GbE and greatly increases scalability without additional complexity and overhead while simplifying network design."

The QLogic 8200 Series' highly programmable architecture and robust feature set are well-suited for storage system OEMs. With full featured hardware offload of 10Gb iSCSI, the QLogic 8200 Series unburdens storage systems from packet processing at high I/O rates so the system can instead focus on running applications. Additionally, the 8200 Series converged controller delivers T10 data integrity support, an increasingly important requirement among storage vendors.

"QLogic is a trusted name in data and storage networking infrastructure and since the inception of iSCSI it has been a leader in hardware offload for this widely adopted protocol," said Yasuhiro Arikawa, senior vice president, Storage Systems Unit, Fujitsu Limited. "QLogic 3GCNA technology addresses the demands of today's virtualized data centers and cloud computing environments which demand 10GbE bandwidth. The 8200 Series allows us to deliver highly scalable, highly flexible ETERNUS storage systems that significantly improve performance while greatly simplifying management and reducing TCO."

QLogic 8200 Series – 10GbE Performance with Flexibility

By delivering 10GbE performance with low CPU utilization, the QLogic 8200 Series excels in virtualized environments, utilizing QLogic's unique flexible networking technologies including:

-- ConvergeFlex: concurrent protocol processing services including FCoE, TCP/IP and iSCSI

-- FlexOffload™: multiple protocol offload services
